Empires wage an eternal war for dominion over a continent in a fantasy universe. Demonic creatures inflict suffering and cast the peoples into terror.

Are you ready to leave a dark past behind and join a band of mercenaries prepared to face the dangers rising from a sinister, macabre-tinged Middle Ages?

Then Valraven: The Chronicles of Blood and Iron is the upcoming roleplaying game for you. Valraven’s Middle Ages draws inspiration from the atmospheres of the manga Berserk, the video game Dragon Age and A Song of Ice and Fire. It will be an excellent way to dive into adrenaline-fuelled adventures. We are sure it will especially please those who are already fans of the works above.

We are happy to announce that we backed the project’s Kickstarter. You can too, choosing the reward tier you prefer. You have until October 6th to make your pledge, safe in the knowledge that you will soon receive the game’s manuals — the project has already reached its funding goal.

For more information on the setting, the game system, the pledges, the stretch goals, the manuals, the format, videos and playtests, visit the project’s Kickstarter page.

What we like most — and what intrigues us — about Valraven is the attempt to combine a grim medieval setting with horror elements and a smooth new game system, MONAD Echo, which we have already tried with Evolution Pulse Rinascita.

Given the fine quality of the roleplaying games we have personally tested from publisher The Black Anvil and from Black Box Games, we are confident this new, gripping project will satisfy us as well.

For some extra information on the development team, we refer to what was already mentioned in the game’s presentation.

Valraven is written by Alberto Tronchi — also the author of Evolution Pulse, Omen and Dunqora — and produced by the team behind the MONAD System, Nostalgia: La Flotta Nomade, Endelstrom and Dead Air: I Giorni della Piaga.

Valraven is illustrated by Tommaso Lucchetti, Zakuro Aoyama and Greta Ricciolini, with art direction by Daniel Comerci.

Comerci’s design had already won us over with the illustrations of Evolution Pulse, an RPG we loved dearly. The contrasts, sharpness and precise linework make the images highly evocative and striking.

Are you ready to forge your destiny in blood and iron, with a mercenary company in the pay of ever-opposing factions?

Let us know if you decided to back the project like we did!
